NSS Special camp

The camp is being carried out smoothly, credits to full fledged co-operation from NSS team, organizations, and ICG teachers. The fourth day of the camp started off with same zest and energetic sessions beginning with ChinmayaYuva Kendra clinged to their mission of “Transforming you, transforming nation”. They had 7 levels of transformation: patriotic, emotional, intellectual, spiritual, cultural, physical and creating a universal outlook. Today we focussed more on physical transformation and how it affect us and our nation. We all realized it is prior to every transformation as body is the foundation for our living. And of course healthy mind resides in healthy body and we need to be physically fit. We also had a health test to monitor the soundness of our body.

After having breakfast, Unit I moved towards Dadabari basti and Unit II moved toward Bhadarva school. The kiddies were delighted to see them all. With each passing day, every volunteer keeps a keen check on her group and teach them basic cleanliness habits, some interesting and brain tickling activities along with study. Hope the children are having an enriching quality time with all of them.

Having lunch, an illuminating session on HIV AIDS took place in AV hall. The lecture was delivered by Nahid Mohammad who is an expertise in spreading awareness on AIDS and STI from past 13 years. According to a slide on his presentation, the current survey shows nearly 21 lakhs people are infected by HIV, out of which 57% are women, and 87% of the cause discovered is unprotected sex and homosex. The main neglection suffered by  HIV positive patient is contributed to unawareness about the topic and our hesitation on talking about the topic due to orthodox views of the society.  We all came to know that every year government spends nearly 2000 crores rupees on HIV management and that’s a huge amount and can be utilised in many other tasks if we really cater to need of talking, discussing and finding a proper solution for this deadly disease. And moreover, socializing with the person does not spread HIV at all.It was a highly informative lecture.

Following it, we had a theme based Nukkadnatak practise in the respective groups. All themes were directly or indirectly represented the socio-economic norms of the society. The nukkadnatak teacher is highly experienced one and he gave a touch of perfection to every group rehersal. It was a kind of fun filled atmosphere in ICG lawns and empowering voices of the youth were echoing around.

The camp day finally unfurled with self defence activities at noon with Mr. Hemant from Indian Martial Arts, Jaipur. He taught some more attacking and defensive acts carrying forward previous one too, making the young tender, charming girls hard on bad people. All did it quite enthusiastically as it was interesting and lively too. Finally the beautiful day endedup with an everlasting burning desire in our heart hoping to be a small or big but being a change in the society is more important as “Small efforts today leads to big changes overnight.”
