The day started with the session conducted by the members of Chinmay Yuva Kendra. They based their session on the subject ‘improving the world by improving ourselves’. They talked about how we can be the change we want to see in this world. We were also given a short quiz that measured how much we know about our own country and how patriotic we are. Many of us realized the need to buckle up as we scored below average. With the help of interesting and funny videos that they showed we realized how disorganized and indisciplined we Indians are when it comes to parking, waiting in the queue, politics etc. it served as an eye opener and instilled the urgent need to look at things with a different perspective. What our nation and its people want is to ACT now, where A stands for ‘accepting who we are without judging ourselves on colour or caste’ and C stands for ‘change that each one of us can initiate’ and T stands for ‘transformation that has to take place in our lives.

In the second session the First Aid training programme was given by Sir R.S Sharma, where he continued with the theory class which started the day before. He taught us the aim of giving first aid i.e. to preserve the life of patient, promote recovery and prevent worsening of the causality condition. He also taught us different rules in giving first aid, types of bleeding and their symptoms and several dos and don’ts. It was informative and helped us clear our myths.

We next visited the basti’s to which we were allotted and carried on the task of teaching our adopted students. The students were delighted to see our faces again and they quickly identified their respective teacher volunteer. The classes went smoothly and were also conducted in the form of games to make learning interesting. We bid off when the time got over with the promise to come again the next day.

The next session was taken by Mr. Nitin Pal Singh Jaipur’s youth coordinator for the Art of Living Foundation. It was a very enriching and refreshing session. He talked to us about how we over emphasize our negative thoughts or failures and find it hard to believe if something good happen to us and we quote it as a dream or too good to be true. With the help of an interesting activity in which some of us were asked to walk forward but looking backward, we realized how similar at times our situations are when we dwell in either our past or think about our future neglecting the present. He also gave us a guided meditation therapy which helped us to relax and let go of every stress.

After this we headed for our nukkad natak training where we were divided in groups and asked to prepare a short street play on the given topics. He guided us with our ideas and gave us assistance time to time in how we can proceed with our respective topics.

Lastly we took the self defence training and we were taught different techniques of defending ourselves and the particular logic behind each step. We also learnt how to get loose from the hold of our opponent and attack them when required.
