Youth Cultural exchange with Egypt and Azerbaijan - March 23, 2013

A Youth Delegation consisting of 7 members from Egypt and 20 members from Azerbaijan visited the IIS University for a youth and cultural exchange programme on 23rd March 2013. The NSS Units of the University hosted this programme on behalf of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India. The delegation was welcomed with floral garlands in the traditional Indian manner. The programme began with Invocation to Goddess Saraswati followed by Lamp lighting to inaugurate the programme by by Shri Manohar Kant, Principal Secretary, Higher Education, Government of Rajasthan, Ms Renu Sarin, Deputy Secretary, International Cell, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, along with Miss Sally, the Team leader of Egypt, Mr. Huseynov Elshan, the Team leader from Azerbaijan and Dr. Ashok Gupta, Vice Chancellor, The IIS University. 

 Dr. Ashok Gupta welcomed the delegates to the IIS University. This was followed by NSS (National Service Scheme) and NYKS (Nehru Yuva Kendra Sansthan) Youth work presentations by Dr. Sharad Rathore, NSS Programme Officer -The IIS University. Thereafter Egyptian and Azerbaijan team made presentations in which they highlighted the geographical features, culture and youth policies of their respective countries. 

After this NSS students of the IIS University showcased Rajasthani culture through Rajasthani folk dance, Kalbelia dance and a group song. The Egyptian and Azerbaijan team members won the hearts of all through their country specific cultural presentation. 

Shri Manohar Kant presented mementoes to the team leaders as well as to  Ms Renu Sarin and Mr Deepak Kumar, Head, NSS Regional Centre, Patna on behalf of the State Government. Shri Manohar Kant and Dr Ashok Gupta presented individual tokens to all team members on behalf of The IIS University. In his Key Note address Shri Kant emphasized the significance of such delegation visits towards fostering good relations and fraternity between the different countries and thus establish world peace. The programme ended with a formal vote of thanks by Dr. Jyoti Gaur, NSS Programme Officer Unit II of The IIS University followed by Indian National Anthem. All the participants and guests joined in the refreshment organized by the University and informally interacted with the student youth of the university.
