Guest Lecture on Swami Vivekananda- January 12, 2016

Today a small program was organised in the college auditorium to give tribute to a great monk Swami Vivekananda. In the program Political Science lecturer (college faculty) Dr. Poonam Sharma delivered a speech, in which she make the students know about the history of Swami Vivekananda. She told that he was born on January 12,1863 in Calcutta; studied in the same city and completed his graduation from Presidency college and died on July 4,1902 at the age of 39. He was the founder of Ramakrishna Mission (1897), he oftentimes said a quote i.e "Arise, Awake and stop not till the goal is reached".

Dr. Poonam told about the literary works conducted by this great monk which were Bhakti Yog, KaramYog, and the last Raj Yog. She also said that Vivekananda Ji was interested in spirituals, was a concentrated, commited and goal targeted person. Vivekananda said that to achieve goal, read together, take up one idea, Make that idea your life; Think of it, dream of it; Live on that idea; Let the brain, muscles, nerves, every part of your body, be full of that idea and just leave every other idea alone. This is the way to success.

After this, Dr. told about the difference between the character and Reputation, at last she ended up her speech by saying beautiful quotes written by Swami Vivekananda and handed over the mic to staff person Mrs. Sharad Rathore, she told that once Vivekananda Ji went to Chicago to address the people there. He started up with the line "My fellow brothers and sisters of America" and when he ended up his speech, each and everyone present there flowed in the stream of respect for Swami Vivekananda Ji.

And finally Mam ended up the program after speaking about the well known words of Swami Ji "Vasudeva Kutumbhakam", which means the whole world is my family. By the means of todays program students learned many things about life, the way how to live it, and feel it.
